Wendy Lap
Wendy spent most of her working life behind a desk in various stakeholder management and data insight roles, including Data and Insight Manager for BSkyB and Database Manager for Children 1st (formerly RSSPCC). Since receiving a diploma with distinction from Trinity College London in Speech and Drama, she gradually increased the balance of work towards the arts. In July 2021 she became a full time creative freelancer, dividing her time between voiceover work and writing. Her plays have been produced on stage and she has self-published a book of short sleep stories. You can regularly hear her voice on television and radio advertisements and she has recently been selected as the voice of Highlands Rewilding.
Voice Work
Wendy has been recording professional voiceovers and providing voice acting services since 2016. She has built up a catalogue of audiobooks on Audible and various other platforms. Wendy's voice can be heard on a number of television adverts and promotional videos, some of which are featured on her website. In addition, she voices educational training videos, radio adverts, video games and telephone IVR prompts.
Wendy is co-founder of Edinburgh Voiceovers and is organising a series of networking events for budding or experienced voice actors in the Edinburgh area. One of Wendy's passions is audio drama or audio fiction podcasting. She features in a number of these including a lead role in an ongoing serial drama. Writing
Other than writing (and narrating) a book of short sleep stories, Wendy's preferred writing genre is comedy.
In November 2021, Her compilation of short sketches 'Sauce and Hot Sauce' was staged in Edinburgh to a sell-out audience. And in the same month, a draft version of her play 'The Richard Osman Fan Club' was selected to be performed at Edinburgh's Page to Stage event. The feedback for this was so encouraging that Wendy went on to write and stage a longer version for a full three- week run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2022; receiving two four star reviews. You can read more about these theatre productions and access all of the full reviews here.
The pantomime 'Treasure/Cramond Island' has been written by Wendy to be performed by Cramond Drama Group in December 2023.
